The Cade Family Foundation was established to celebrate the life and values of Dr. Fred Cornelius Cade. Born in Montgomery, AL in 1886,
Dr. Cade overcame many obstacles to become a prominent physician and surgeon. He practiced on Chicago's south side for two decades before his death. He was on the staff at Provident Hospital and it is said that he had one of the most lucrative practices in the city among physicians and surgeons. Dr. Cade was well loved and respected by his colleagues as well as neighbors and others in the community. It was a known fact that he had an open door policy at both his home and practice. Dr. Cade treated anyone in need of his services (medical or otherwise) regardless of their social or economic status. Dr. Cade was a proud community leader, a prominent figure in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and an avid supporter of the South Side Boy’s Club (Now the Elliott Donnelley Youth Center).
Dr. Cade’s story is one of dedication, determination and service. Nearly seventy years after Dr. Cade’s death, his family continues his legacy of being a caring source of help. The Cade Family Foundation, officially established in November 2005, is dedicated to serving those most affected by social and economic injustices. LaDonna Woods Morgan and Chonda Woods Reese are the great granddaughters of Dr. Cade and the founders of The Cade Family Foundation. These socially conscious sisters and natives of Chicago’s south side, are committed to assisting their clients create solutions and accomplish, together, what they are unable to accomplish alone.
